Book Description From Goodreads

Rebecca Crow’s four-year-old son is dead and her husband is missing.

Divers find her husband’s car at the bottom of a canal with their son’s small, lifeless body, inside. The police have no suspects and nothing to go on but a passing mention of a man driving a van. Guilt and grief cloud Rebecca’s thoughts as she stumbles toward her only mission: Revenge.

James Porter knows exactly what happened to them, but he’ll do anything to keep it a secret.

James didn’t plan to kill Rebecca’s son, but he’s not too broken up about it, either. There are more important things for him to worry about. He needs money, and his increasing appetite for murder is catching the attention of a nosy detective.

My Thoughts

(Spoiler Free)

Come Join The Murder is a mind-blowing, page turner kind of a book. This is definitely one of my best reads so far this 2020. This is not an easy read because of what happened to the kid, and it was graphical.

I love how the author presented the story. Her writing style will bring you to the edge of your sit, desperately wanting to know what really happened, why it happened and it will make you feel the main character’s grief and her feeling of wanting to take a revenge. And for me that’s important when writing a book, right? To reach your reader in that sense.

I love the part where Rebecca was playing her last conversation with her husband. She was trying to visualize the different scenarios that happened with her husband and son. It was repetitive but I think that was definitely a great representation of it. It was realistic. That really caught me.

What was a good life? Was it having people to love who loved you back? Was it doing good deeds? Was it righting the wrongs of others?

I think this book is not for everybody. It has a very dark theme. It’s disturbing.

Overall, as a horror and mystery thriller fan, the story is not so unique. But I love how it was presented. I read this in one sitting, that is how good it was. Will absolutely recommend this to people who are mystery and thriller fans.

This is a debut novel and it was amazing. Kudos to the author! Can’t wait to read more from Holly Rae Garcia.
